On the afternoon of 14 September 2026, a six-member delegation led by Peter Eley, Deputy Director of Human Resources, and Benjamin Metcalfe, Head of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Bath, UK, visited our laboratory. Sun Liqiong, Deputy Administrative Director of the State Key Laboratory of Electrical Insulation and Power Equipment, accompanied the delegation for the tour and exchanges.

Visit to the Laboratory Exhibition Hall

Starting from the positioning of the State Key Laboratory of Electrical Insulation and Power Equipment, Sun Liqiong gave the guests a detailed introduction to the laboratory’s development history, as well as its achievements in scientific research and talent cultivation. Abundant graphic displays and vivid presentations fully demonstrated the laboratory’s research strengths and representative achievements in the fields of electrical materials and electrical insulation.

Visit to the Laboratory Public Service Platform

The Laboratory Public Service Platform (Electrical Materials Preparation, Testing and Analysis Platform) serves as a key gateway for the laboratory’s external opening and an important guarantee supporting its fundamental scientific research. Technical staff introduced the platform’s testing capabilities and scope of application to the guests in plain language. The delegation raised questions regarding equipment management procedures and usage scope, which were answered one by one by the technicians.

Visit to the High-Capacity Power Interruption Experimental Platform

The High-Capacity Power Interruption Experimental Platform is another distinctive facility of the laboratory. While experiments were in full swing inside the workshop, the delegation stopped to observe from outside. Sun Liqiong presented the platform’s construction background, experimental capacity and representative outcomes. The guests were amazed by the laboratory’s high-voltage and high-current experimental capabilities, remarking that it was quite an achievement for a university laboratory to build an experimental platform of such scale.
